The Daily Zap is an independent digital publication for readers in India and beyond, covering the stories and ideas that shape everyday life — across News, Business, Money, Technology, AI, Health, Food, Travel, Entertainment, Sports, and the human-interest stories in between.
What we do
We aim to make the day’s most useful and interesting stories clear, readable and worth your time. Whether it’s a personal-finance explainer, a technology guide, a health feature or a travel destination, our goal is the same: practical, well-told writing that respects your attention.
Most of what we publish is written to answer a question rather than to report an event. If you have searched for how a government savings scheme actually works, which laptop is worth buying at a particular budget, or what to cook on a weeknight, that is the kind of article we try to write — the useful, complete answer rather than the quick take.
How we choose what to cover
We don’t guess. Every article begins with a real search query — something people are genuinely typing into Google — measured against live search-volume and difficulty data. Those queries are scored, checked against everything we have already published, and the strongest become the day’s assignments.
The practical effect is that our coverage follows reader demand rather than the news cycle. It’s why you’ll find a guide to PPF interest rates next to a piece on weekend getaways near Delhi: both are things a lot of people wanted to know that week.
How we use AI
We believe in being upfront about how this publication works. Articles on The Daily Zap are drafted by AI, working from a structured editorial brief, and published under a section desk byline.
We use technology to cover more ground than a small team otherwise could, and to produce clear, consistently structured writing. But we are equally clear about the limits: individual articles are not fact-checked by a person before they go live. Our checks are automated — we verify that every source an article links to actually resolves, we block duplicate coverage, and we hold articles to a fixed structure and reading level.
Our editorial policy sets all of this out in full, including what our automated checks can and cannot catch. Please read it — particularly before acting on anything we publish about money, health, tax or the law.
Our desks
We publish under eleven section desks: India, Business, Money, Technology, AI, Health, Food & Recipes, Travel, Entertainment, Sports and Human Interest. Each desk has its own page describing what it covers, and each article carries the byline of the desk that produced it. These are section identities rather than individual journalists — we’d rather label them honestly than invent reporters.
Our standards
- We aim for accuracy, and we link to the primary source so you can check us.
- We are explicit about how our articles are produced, and about what we do not verify.
- We label our sections clearly and keep our writing readable.
- We correct mistakes when they are brought to our attention, on the original article.
- We keep advertising separate from editorial content, and we currently run no sponsored posts or affiliate links.
What we are not
We are not a breaking-news outlet, and we don’t pretend to be. We don’t have reporters on the ground, we don’t break stories, and we don’t cover developing events in real time. What we do is explain things — carefully, at length, and in plain English.
We are also not a source of professional advice. Nothing we publish is financial, medical, legal or tax advice, and our disclaimer explains why you should treat it as a starting point rather than a final answer.
Corrections
If something we’ve published is wrong, we want to know. Send us the article URL and what’s inaccurate through our contact page. We review every correction request and amend or remove the article where the complaint is valid.
